The Iraqi President during his meeting with Al-Miqdad: The importance of consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding regional and international issues

On June 4thIraqi President Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of consultation and coordination between Iraq and Syria on issues of common concern, pointing out that developing relations between the two countries in various fields serves the bilateral interests and the two brotherly peoples. 

During President Rashid’s reception at Baghdad Palace, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad,  conveyed the greetings of President Bashar Al-Assad to President Rashid and the Iraqi people.

President Rashid stressed the depth of the existing relations between Iraq and Syria, and the need to strengthen them in various fields, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples

President Rashid pointed to the importance of cooperation between the two countries in order to pursue the remnants of terrorism and control borders in a way that consolidates security and stability

President Rashid said that Iraq has always stressed the importance of developing relations with Syria, realizing its importance at the regional level. 

President Rashid affirmed that the Iraqi people stood by the brotherly Syrian people during the earthquake disaster and supported them with everything possible, which reflects the brotherly bond between the two peoples. 

For his part, Minister Miqdad showed appreciation for Iraq’s honorable stances towards Syria and its remarkable diplomatic role in order to resume its participation in the meetings of the Arab League

Minister Miqdad pointed to Syria’s aspiration to strengthen fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, and joint work to confront terrorism, and to enhance economic and trade exchange. 

Minister Miqdad also explained the disastrous effects of the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people. 

The Minister expressed his happiness at the important developments in Iraq on the political, development and security levels, which were positively reflected at the regional and international levels, appreciating Iraq’s positive role in helping Syria, especially during the period of the earthquake disaster.
