The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemns the inclusion of anti-Iranian clauses in the US Defense Authorization Act
Tehran (ST): Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned the United States’ inclusion of some anti-Iranian provisions in the US National Defense Authorization Act 2023, noting that making some unfounded allegations about Iran’s regional activities indicates the continuation of America’s destructive and subversive role in the region.
Kanaani said in a statement today: False accusations were made against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in this law, while the US administration violated international covenants and laws by unilaterally withdrawing from the nuclear agreement.
He stressed that making baseless allegations about Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities never helps legitimize the illegal and unilateral ban measures taken by the United States against Iran, adding: “Our country will not submit to the logic of force.”
Kanaani pointed out that bilateral cooperation between Iran and other governments in various fields, including traditional defense cooperation, comes within the framework of common benefits and interests, and is consistent with international laws and obligations, stressing that there is no place for building nuclear weapons in the Iranian military doctrine.
