The Indonesian Embassy in Damascus presents Indonesian film “Cemara family” to Syrian students

The Indonesian Embassy in Damascus screened“Cemara family” movie in the Qudsaya Educational Theater in Damascus countryside on Wednesday 8 March.

The film was screened within the framework of the International Children’s Film Festival, which is organized by the Syrian Diplomatic Clubs and the Syrian Ministry of Education. More than 200 Syrian students and teachers attended the film.

Mrs. Radanti Fauzi Chairperson of DCOS opened the event with a short promotional video about Indonesia in order to introduce Indonesia to high school students.

Mrs. Radyanti said: “I hope that  this movie will enrich your knowledge about cultural and social diversity in Indonesia, and catch the similar family value between Indonesian families  and Syrian ones . Therefore, those will strengthen the friendships between people of Indonesia and Syria”.

Mr. Maher Farraj, Director of Education in Damascus countryside,  emphasized that showing Indonesian films was a great opportunity to motivate students to improve their knowledge of other cultures.

Wajid Fauzi (ambassador of Indonesia )said that although Indonesia and Syria are geographically far apart, the friendship between the two countries has been very deep for a long time.

The evidence for this is that the Indonesian embassy didn’t close  even for a moment, since its inauguration and even during the crisis’. Another proof  is also present in Syria, which is Indomie Indonesia!!It is good to know that this delicious daily meal originates from Indonesia and carries to you all of the spirit and flavor of Indonesia, and because it is necessary for these fraternal relations to continue between our people, we need to get to know each other better.

His Excellency said: “You may know… that the geographical distance between our two countries is far, but as Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Damascus.” I wanted to bridge this distance by carrying out activities in all economic, social, and cultural fields, and I was keen to present Indonesia to all of you, because the relationship between our two countries, Indonesia and Syria is very old and historical.”

“I believe, dear students, that you are the future generation and ambassadors of Syria to the world, who will build a strong foundation for prosperous relations between the peoples of Indonesia and Syria” Mr, waijd added.
