The General Federation of Trade Unions on their Day: We will remain the true voice defending the rights, gains and interests of workers

Damascus, (ST) – On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the General Federation of Trade Unions affirmed that May 1 is a symbol of the unity and solidarity of workers and their common struggle against forms of exploitation and capitalist greed.

The Federation stated “This day is considered as an appreciation of the hard and dedicated work of workers and their achievements in the process of development and society”.

The Federation clarified in a statement that Labor Day is an indication of upholding the value of work and giving, preserving trade union rights and freedoms.

It added that Labor Day is also an indication of the correct path and the only means for the advancement of individuals, societies and countries is through work, production,

and exertion of effort.

“We will continue  to confront the plans of the imperialist colonial powers that aim to destroy independent countries and plunder their resources”, the Federation said.

The Federation stressed that it will remain the true voice of the workers, forever defending their rights, gains and interests, placing at the core of its interest the advancement of the workers.

The statement indicated that this glorious occasion comes in light of a major global economic crisis and difficult circumstances that the world is experiencing due to the continuation of brutal imperialist forces in practicing their aggressive colonial policies aimed at destroying free nations and plundering their wealth.

The statement pointed out that what Syria, its people and its workers have been exposed to and are being exposed to, like the terrorism practiced against it, the Zionist practices facing our people in the occupied Syrian Golan, and the aggressive practices that the workers of Palestine in particular and the Arab people in Palestine in general are the result of those inhumane criminal policies.

The Federation called on movements, unions and labor federations across the world to support the workers of the Golan, Gaza and Palestine and expose the forms of crime and injustice to which they are exposed, as a result of the Zionist occupation.
