The Foreign Ministers of Russia and Iran discuss developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affair Sergey Lavrov, discussed with the Iranian minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian the situation in the Gaza Strip in the frame of the ongoing Israeli aggression against it, and called for the need of delivering humanitarian aid to its residents.

TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement: During a meeting on the sidelines of a session of the UN Security Council in New York, the two sides exchanged views on the agenda related to the Middle East. They called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to its residents.

The ministry continued: The two ministers expressed common concern about the tense situation in the Red Sea region which has deteriorated sharply as a result of the reckless use of the power by the United States and a number of other countries against Yemen.

The two sides also touched on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, emphasizing the necessity to implement the agreements reached at a higher level between the two countries including the summit that took place on th7th of last December between the presidents of the two countries. They expressed mutual readiness to further deepen practical cooperation of mutual benefit in all important and priority fields.
