The Follow-up Committee of the General Arab Conference calls for lifting the unjust siege on Syria

Beirut, (ST) –  The Follow-up Committee of the General Arab Conference renewed its call to lift the unjust Western blockade on Syria and to continue providing relief aid to those affected by the earthquake.

During its weekly virtual meeting on Wednesday, presided over by the Conference’s Chairman Khaled Al-Sufyani, the committee referred to the double standards in the behavior of the governments of Washington and the NATO countries regarding the earthquake crisis in Syria compared to their behavior towards other crises, especially in Ukraine.

Al-Sufyani added that Washington insists to continue with imposing the unjust and illegal blockade on Syria, particularly in the light of the earthquake catastrophe.

The committee also called on Arab governments to take the initiative to break the Western blockade on Syria and all the unjust decisions taken against it and to hold a high-level Arab meeting to be attended by Syria in order to fix the imbalance in inter-Arab relations.

During the meeting, the steps taken by the international Arab popular campaign to lift the Western blockade on Syria were explained.

In another context, the Committee saluted the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation, mainly the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank.

The Committee also welcomed the decision of the African Union to suspend the membership of the Zionist entity as an observer in the Union, and to expel the representative of the entity from its recent meeting hall in Addis Ababa. It saluted the positions of the countries that supported this move, especially Algeria and South Africa, calling for completing this step by working to expel this entity from all international and regional bodies and organizations.

The Follow-up Committee for the General Arab Conference includes the general secretaries and representatives of the Arab National Conference, the Islamic National Conference, and General Conference of Arab Parties, the International Quds Foundation, and the Arab Progressive Front.
