The first three winners of National Robotics Championship 2022 are crowned

The closing ceremony of the National Robotics Championship “WRO Syria 2022”, hosted by Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia, witnessed the crowning of the first three winners of the primary, middle and upper categories in the competitions of robot missions, future innovators and future engineers.

Director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, Lynn Qassem, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the process of evaluating the teams depends on the highest total of points, indicating that the holders of the first places and the gold medals are the candidates to qualify for the World Robot Olympiad to be held in Germany next November, and there is a qualifying stage for selecting final teams.

Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Robotics, Muhib Al-Naqari, expressed his optimism about the high level presented by the participating teams and found an advantage in it that would enhance Syria’s presence in international competitions and achieve distinguished results. He noted that the teams that achieved the full mark in the Robot Missions competition ensured their qualification for the World Olympiad.

The design of a self-driving car for the “Saturn NCD” team from the National Center for Excellence in Lattakia won first place in the category of future engineers, completing the effort and fatigue of more than two consecutive years of hard work to come up with a robot meeting the requirements of the global competition, which they found more difficult than previous years.

The team’s coach Ayah Khairbek indicated that this participation is the second for the team, as it achieved first place at the national level and third globally last year, while seeking to achieve an advanced position this year as well.

Members of the “ICS Eco-dynamo” team, which expressed their happiness for winning the first place in the upper category for the category of future engineers and qualifying for the World Championship in Germany and achieving honorable results.

The “Open Mind” team from Lattakia won the silver medal in the middle category in the robot missions competition, where the design was a robot that helps the person to carry out the rescue mission during extinguishing a fire in the factory and removing the toxic substance from the fire place and placing it in a safe place away from those affected.

Meanwhile, the “Golden Robot” team from the Martyr Maimon Hammoudi School for Outstanding Students in Lattakia won the bronze medal in the same category. Its coach, Ali Suleiman, expressed his pride in the team members’ performance as their first experience, highlighting the good result they achieved despite the difficulty of the preparations and the late arrival of pieces in the hope of achieving better positions in the upcoming competitions.

Suleiman indicated that the wide participation this year reflects the great interest that the authority attaches to the dissemination of the culture of programming and robotics and its consolidation among the younger generations.

The coach of the Islamic orphanage team “Dream Team” of the Islamic Charitable Society in Homs, Abdullah Nassif, spoke about the participation of the team with a robot whose mission is to inform the competent authorities about the whereabouts of the injured and to put out fires in the areas of destruction.

As for the “Nitrons” team, which represents the association in the primary category, shared a robot whose mission is to cut tall grasses and get rid of weeds in a way that contributes to preserving the environment and its cleanliness.
