The first freight train between Northern China and Europe

China announced today the launching of the first freight train from the railway station in Langfang city, northern Hebei Province, towards Europe, on a journey 7800 km.

Xinhua agency said that the train carrying 55 containers  is 40 foot long.It left yesterday through the port of Erenhot, to cross the territory of Mongolia and arrive in Moscow in 17 days.

The goods, with a total value of about 20 million yuan (288 million $), include light industrial products, foodstuff, clothing, and daily necessities from local enterprises in Langfang and import and export companies in the city’s surroundings.

According to Langfang Development and Reform Commission, the freight train service is of great importance to further promoting the coordinated development of the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei” region and integrating into the construction of the ” belt and Road” initiative.
