The first batch of Syrian pilgrims arrives at Damascus International Airport coming from Saudi Arabia

DAMASCUS, JUN.22, (ST)-The first flight of Syrian pilgrims arrived at Damascus International Airport this early morning coming from Medina Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This is the first flight of the Syrian pilgrims who are coming back homeland after performing the Hajj rituals, Director general of civil aviation, Basem Mansour said in a statement adding that there were about 156 pilgrims onboard.

For his part, Director General of Syrian Airlines, Hatem Kabbas, said that about 10,900 people were transported, and that the return of the pilgrims will continue until the 6th of next July.

The first flights of Syrian pilgrims departed on the 28th of May from Damascus International Airport to Jeddah airport in Saudi Arabia via Syrian Airways, after an absence of 13 years.

The number of Syrians who were accepted to perform Hajj this year was 17,500 citizens.
