The “Expatriates Gathering” Forum kicks off in Homs

HOMS, Jul.23, (ST)- The “Expatriates Gathering” Forum kicked off on Saturday in Fayrouza town in Homs governorate with the aim of making the expatriates familiar with investment opportunities and development projects in the province.

During the opening ceremony of the forum, Minister of State for Southern Region Development Affairs, Dr. Diala Barakat referred to the significant achievements made by the Syrian expatriates across the world ,as well as the government efforts to strengthen the relationship among the people of the homeland, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Barakat spoke about the role of expatriates in various sectors and the need to remove the obstacles that face them as  a number of the expatriates launched initiative to invest in industrial cities.

the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Homs and its dependencies, George Abu Zakhem, called for strengthening trust between the expatriates and their homeland by carrying out successful development investment projects that reflect the national and humanitarian unity of the Syrians.

for his part, member of the Fayrouza Municipal Council George al-Mahu said that the expatriates are Syrian ambassadors abroad, and their demands should be met and addressed as the municipality play the role of connection between them and the concerned circles..

The expatriates called for improving the situation of electricity and the infrastructure which is necessary for investment , facilitating the procedures for obtaining licenses for investment projects, and addressing the problems they encounter in establishing their projects, in addition to securing banks to facilitate their transactions, exempting them from customs duties, facilitating the import of production materials.

It is worth  mentioning that the forum is organized by the Ministry of State for Southern Development Affairs and Homs governorate.
