The European Union will give urgent support to Iran to combat the Corona virus

The European Union called on the international community today to give urgent support to Iran and help it to combat the Corona virus.

The European Union’s foreign policy commissioner Josep Borrell said that the European Union is ready to support Iran and Venezuela who are under severe economic sanctions, in reference to the unfair US measures.   

The shipments of food, medicines and medical equipments to the two countries will not be affected by these sanctions, Borrell said.

 We will support these countries because the US sanctions prevented them from obtaining any income by selling their oil”, he added.

In May 2018, US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the five plus one group in 2015 and renewed the sanctions against Tehran. Also Washington imposed sanctions against Venezuela mainly targeting the oil sector and freezing its assets abroad.
