The Emir of Qatar discusses developments in Gaza and Syria with the Turkish Foreign Minister

The Qatari Emiri Diwan said that the country’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Syria with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday.

The Emiri Diwan stated that the meeting reviewed the strategic relations between the two brotherly countries, in addition to the most prominent regional and international developments, during the Emir of Qatar’s reception of the Turkish Foreign Minister, who is currently visiting Doha, at his office in Lusail Palace.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed that the current sanctions on Syria hinder stability in the country.

He added, “We are making efforts with our partners to lift the sanctions and are coordinating with the Qatari side to achieve stability in Syria and rid it of terrorism.”

Fidan added, “We do not accept any interference that undermines Syrian sovereignty and we reject any party bearing arms outside the framework of the state. There are those who want to exploit the current situation in Syria, and we stand against those who seek to do so.
