The Egyptian Foreign Ministry summons the Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo over attack on Holy Quran

Cairo (ST) – In connection with the recent attack on the Holy Quran in Sweden, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry summoned on Tuesday the Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo.

Al-Youm Al-Sabea website quoted the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid as saying: “Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ihab Nasr during the meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy, affirmed that Egypt had previously warned of the dangerous and negative repercussions of repeating these rejected acts. Such acts encourage destructive endeavors and ideas that seek to destroy the bonds of civilized communication among the peoples and societies of the world.”

Abu Zeid indicated that the Assistant Foreign Minister stressed the need for the Swedish authorities and other countries that witnessed similar incidents to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such unacceptable incidents and hold the perpetrators accountable, in an effort to preserve the culture of tolerance and the principles of peaceful coexistence, dialogue and acceptance of the other.
