The draw for the eighteenth edition of the AFC Asian Cup, which has been done today in the Qatari capital, Doha, placed the Syrian national team in Group Two, along with the national teams of Uzbekistan, Australia and India.
The Syrian team will start its matches on the thirteenth of next January with Uzbekistan, then it will face Australia on the 19th of the same month, and India on the 25th of January.
The first group includes Qatar, China, Tajikistan and Lebanon, the third comprises Iran, the UAE, Hong Kong and Palestine, the fourth includes Japan, Iraq, Indonesia and Vietnam, the fifth comprises South Korea, Malaysia, Jordan and Bahrain, and the sixth comprises Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Oman.
It is noteworthy that the tournament system provides for the qualification of the first and second of each group, in addition to the four best teams that finish in third place to the second round.
