The disinformation campaign about Russia’s operation in Ukraine reminiscent to the western propaganda war on Syria
Cell phone videos have hysterically circulated on western media outlets and social media in the United States and some European countries about the Russian military operation in Ukraine. Many of these videos, allegedly depicting the situation on the ground in Ukraine, have turned out to be fake. They aimed at misleading the western public opinion by falsifying facts on the ground.
The war propaganda, launched by the United States and its partners in Europe against Russia have reached its peak by banning the Russian RT and Sputnik channels in the European Union states with the aim of controlling information and hiding facts.
Weeks before the Russian operation to protect Donbass province, the western media outlets sought to mobilize public opinion in Europe and America and to direct it in the service of specific goals. Well known newspapers, and news networks like the “Foreign Policy” the “New York Times” the “CNN” and others deliberately posted many reports and videos depicting a coming military confrontation between Russia and America. Some newspapers clearly urged Washington to prepare for this confrontation financially and militarily.
The disinformation campaigns being launched by the West about Ukraine aim at distorting Russian image and they are reminiscent to the propaganda war launched against Syria, where the American and Western intelligence services and their agents worked to broadcast fake videos and news about what is happening in Syria with the aim of supporting terrorist organizations.
