The Diplomatic Club in Syria visits the “Dar Al Hanan” Association

Today, the ladies of the Diplomatic Club in Syria visited the “Dar Al Hanan” Association for Caring  the Elderly in  Damascus countryside with the aim of enhancing human communication and social cohesion between various segments of society.

In a statement to the reporter of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA),  Shukria Al-Miqdad, the honorary president of the club, indicated that providing care and support to the elderly is a social responsibility that requires combined efforts of individuals and community institutions, based on the fact that the elderly are a storehouse of expertise and experiences, and a link between the past and the present.

She also underlined the importance of this visit in being familiar with the needs of the elderly to encourage all segments of society to provide support and extend a helping hand to institutions concerned with caring for them  to strengthen the bonds of love and harmony among the segments of society.

Al-Miqdad pointed out that the ladies of the club, in cooperation with Al-Durra Food Products Company, provided some symbolic gifts and food products to the residents of the association.

For her part, Aya Bin Shaaban, president of the club, said that the visit aims to know the reality of situation of the elderly, and try to bring joy and happiness to their hearts by communicating and talking with them, highlighting the importance of taking caring of them, and benefiting from their experiences and the intellectual and cultural heritage they possess.

For her part, Nada Farhat, Director of the “Dar Al-Hanan” Association, declared that this visit has positive impact on the residents of the association in terms of introducing the importance of social care homes.

She called on  youth group to hold events and initiatives that include visiting the elderly to put a smile on their faces, and surround them with warm feelings capable of alleviating the atmosphere of loneliness that they experience they live in.

While Mayas Al-Barawi, Public Relations Officer at Al-Durra Company, indicated that the company’s participation is based on its social responsibility, and that such initiatives are an opportunity to provide support and humanitarian aid to vulnerable groups in society, including the elderly.
