The delegation of WHO visits the Children’s Hospital and the Zuhair Habib Health Center in Damascus

The Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr.Ahmed Al-Mandhari,the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Aljamal Maksumova, and the accompanying delegation visited Damascus University Children’s Hospital.

The delegation’s members were briefed on the reality of medical services provided to patients in the Central Aid Department, which was rebuilt and recently opened in joint cooperation between the two Syria and WHO.

 

Al-Mandhari stated that this is the second visit of the WHO delegation to the hospital to assess the training needs that the hospital’s staff and specialists in this field need.

Al-Mandhari stressed that WHO is interested in aspects that strengthen the health sector and  enable it to provide the best health services to all those in need.

He said  that WHO continues to provide the required support to the Children’s Hospital and the rest of the health centers in Syria.

In turn, Dr. Akjmal confirmed that the WHO is cooperating with all health partners in Syria of  the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education.

General Director of the Damascus University Children’s Hospital Dr. Rustum Makiya, expressed his appreciation for the World Health Organization’s permanent support to the hospital, whether financially for restoration work or in terms of providing dozens of competitors to the ambulance and care departments in the hospital, which suffers from overcrowding and great pressure.

Earlier, the World Health Organization delegation visited the Zuhair Habbe Health Center in Damascus and was briefed on the medical services provided within its specialized clinics, the vaccination clinic, the radiology department, and family planning services.

Al-Mandhari said that  the center is making great efforts to support all sectors in light of dealing with the Corona pandemic.

The tour to the health center was attended by the Director of Damascus Health, Dr. Hazar Raif, and the Director of  Emergencies at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassan.
