The Council of Elders calls for international action to stop the I-sraeli aggression against Gaza

The Council of Elders, which was founded by the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, and includes a number of international figures, including former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, called for international action to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The French Press Agency quoted the council as saying in a statement: “What Israel is doing has reached an unbearable level of inhumanity towards the Palestinians.”

The Council noted that “Governments that provide military support to the Israeli entity, knowing that atrocities are being committed or about to be committed, risk being complicit,” adding: “World leaders must act now to deter atrocities , to also put an  end to the impunity that Israeli has, including an urgent review of the military support provided to Israel.

In addition, the Council called on governments to enable the International Criminal Court, to accelerate its investigations into the terrible crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.

The Council of Elders was established in 2007.It is  concerned with advocating for peace, justice, the preservation of human rights and environmental sustainability.
