Cairo (ST): The 34th international conference held by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with Syrian participation, and titled “Cyberspace and Modern Means of Religious Discourse,” called for launching a pan-Arab project to build correct and rational digital content in the field of religious discourse, with a contemporary vision that preserves the constants and takes into account modern developments.

In its recommendations, the conference underlined the importance of working to enhance the participatory use of cyberspace in terms of producing knowledge and contributing to its dissemination, while expanding training programs on the safe use of social networking sites, and expanding the use of technologies, including artificial intelligence, and benefiting from them in the field of religious discourse, thus contributing to preserving our religious and cultural identity.

The conference stressed the importance of the family’s role in guiding its children towards the safe use of communication sites, and cooperation between religious and technical institutions in the field of cyberspace and artificial intelligence, and benefiting from them in spreading moderate thought and confronting extremist thought.

The Minister of Religious Endowments, Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Sattar al-Sayed, who headed the Syrian delegation participating in the conference, which was held from September 9 to 10, stressed in a speech that Syria, with all its institutions, provided a great experience in confronting all forms of extremism and intolerance.
