The Commissioner-General of UNRWA: Syria has a major role in the organization’s advisory committee

On October 26, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) Philip Lazzarini thanked Syria for its support to UNRWA.

Lazzarini said that his visit to Syria aims to strengthen cooperation between the two sides and discuss the needs of Palestinian refugees.

Lazarini said in a statement to reporters upon his arrival at the Nassib Border Crossing from Jordan that his visit to Syria is necessary because it came at a time when Syria was affected, like other countries, by an economic and financial situation and other challenges related to the Corona virus.

Lazzarini said that he would visit the Sbeineh and Yarmouk Camps, southern Damascus, to find out the needs of the Palestinian refugees.

The Commissioner-General confirmed that Syria has a major role in the UNRWA advisory committee and that he will meet with the representative of the Syrian government in the aforementioned committee.
