The Civil defense in Lattakia receives Russian aid

Lattakia , (ST)  – The Russian “Elizabeth Glinka Charitable Foundation” and Sputnik Agency on Wednesday provided Russian aid to the civil defense body in the Syrian city of Lattakia, including construction materials and equipment to help remove the rubble caused by the earthquake.

Vladimir Khavshabo, Director of External Planning at the Elizabeth Glinka Charitable Foundation told SANA reporter that the aid includes power generators, scissors and compressors that help remove traces of destruction from the collapsed buildings as a result of the earthquake. He added that an aid batch estimated at 2.5 tons of relief materials, including tents, blankets and foodstuffs for families is being distributed today in the village of Al-Darouqiyyat in Lattakia countryside.

For his part, Brigadier General P.S.C. Jalal Daoud, Director of Civil Defense in Lattakia, confirmed that the relief equipment for rescue and rubble removal operations would contribute to speeding up the completion of work in any similar incidents that may occur in the future.

Daoud thanked the Russian side for its support for Syria in overcoming the catastrophe that was caused by the earthquake. He pointed out that this support is not new to the Russian government and people, which has always been known for standing by Syria in the face of terrorism.
