The celebration of International Traffic Day in Aleppo

On May 4th, Aleppo Governorate honored a number of Traffic Branch personnel who excelled in their work in Saadallah Al-Jabri Square, Al-Furqan Square, University Square, and a number of families of traffic martyrs during the celebration held at the Workers’ Union building in Aleppo on the occasion of World Traffic Day and Arab Traffic Week. 

 

Brigadier Labib Youssef, Head of the Traffic Branch in Aleppo, explained during his speech the importance of the World Traffic Day to spread traffic awareness and the need for drivers to abide by traffic laws and regulations in order to preserve the lives of citizens and public and private property. 

Brigadier Youssef added that the number of victims of accidents in Aleppo during the past year was about 40 deaths, and about 620 arrests were made of traffic accidents and the resulting physical and material damage. 

Brigadier Youssef noted the efforts made to reduce these accidents through partnership and teamwork and stimulating a sense of responsibility for everyone to preserve the lives of road users. 

Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the Land and Air Transport Workers Union, explained that the integration of roles between the driver, traffic men and pedestrians achieves safety and security for the citizen. 

He called for adherence to traffic rules and regulations and spreading traffic awareness through workshops and the media, which contributes to reducing the number of traffic accidents. 

A short film was shown on traffic awareness and the measures taken by the Traffic Branch in Aleppo to reduce traffic accidents and the need for drivers to abide by traffic laws and regulations. 

Hussain Diab, Governor of Aleppo, Ahmed Mansour, Secretary of the Aleppo branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, the provincial police chief, and Mustafa Wazzan, head of the Aleppo branch of the Workers’ Union, participated in the honoring.
