The cabinet approves the estimated budget for the Drought and Natural Disasters Mitigation Fund for the year 2023, amounting to 50 billion Syrian pounds

Damascus (ST): During its weekly session, chaired by Eng. Hussein Arnous, the cabinet reviewed the efforts made by all government institutions and concerned authorities to deal with the repercussions of the earthquake and the proposed plans and programs to deal with the effects of the disaster in all aspects. It stressed the need to expedite the completion of a detailed database of the results of damages in various sectors in order to enable dealing with the disaster systematically and in accordance with the priorities of restoring economic and social activity to the affected areas and continuing to provide support and assistance to those affected.

Engineer Arnous explained the importance of developing specific programs for the reconstruction of these areas according to the proposed scenarios, pointing to the importance of the ministries continuing to implement the plans and programs approved in the 2023 budget, giving priority to dealing with the repercussions of the earthquake in all sectors, and directing the available capabilities to implement response plans in the affected areas.

The cabinet approved the estimated budget of the Drought and Natural Disasters Mitigation Fund for the year 2023 amounting to 50 billion Syrian pounds, and the technical and material business plan for the fund, and asked the Economic Committee to continuously review the reality of the work of the platform for financing imports and prioritizing the funded materials and overcoming any obstacles to securing the need of the local market of all materials and ensuring their availability.

The cabinet listened to the presentation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform on the reality of the fish wealth sector and fish farming projects and the measures taken to benefit from the available marine water spaces, lakes and dams.
