The attacks of the Turkish occupation continue on Alouk water station

Hasakah, (ST) – Alouk water station in the Hasakah countryside has stopped pumping drinking water as a result of the Turkish occupation targeting the electrical supply stations in the governorate.

The people of the city of Hasakah and the western countryside of the governorate have been  suffering  from the water sector for more than two months.

The Director of the Public Water Establishment, Engineer Muhammad Othman, indicated in a statement that the continued suffering of the people of the city of Al-Hasakah and its western countryside due to the interruption of their only source of drinking water is the  result of the Turkish occupation targeting the electricity stations feeding the water station .

Othman pointed out that the Establishment is keen to secure sufficient quantities of potable water for the people by operating 14 water desalination plants in the city of Hasakah.

Othman indicated that the Establishment, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has secured 50,000 liters of fuel to be distributed in batches to ensure the continuity of operating water desalination stations for the coming period.

He pointed out that the Establishment also, in cooperation with a number of organizations and bodies working in the humanitarian field, continues to provide drinking water to the people of the city and its surrounding neighborhoods by filling the tanks spread in parks and public streets on a daily basis.

The Alouk Water Project in the eastern countryside of Ras Al-Ain is considered the only source of drinking water for about one million people in Hasakah. It was subjected to interruption in previous periods as a result of the attack on the station by the Turkish occupation and its terrorist mercenaries.
