The Astana Process FM’s renew their commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria

On September 25, the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey, as guarantors of the Astana process reaffirmed the commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, stressing respect for these principles by all parties.

“The foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey held a tripartite meeting on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly and they welcomed the formation of the Syrian Committee tasked with discussing the constitution,” said a statement posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Ministers expressed their support for the work of the Syrian Committee through continuous interaction with the Syrian parties and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria.

The Ministers stressed that this step will pave the way for a viable Syrian-led political process facilitated by the United Nations in parallel with the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference in Sochi and Security Council resolution 2254.
