On April 24th, the Armenian community in the Syrian city of Hasakah on Monday commemorated the 108th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, in the presence of a crowd of bishops.
On this occasion, the Armenian youth in the Church of St. Hofano Kerbet presented poems and a plays through which they expressed the horrible massacres committed against the Armenians. Candles were lit around the church in honor of the martyrs of this painful memory.
The Head of the Armenian community in Hasakah Armen Naalbandian affirmed that the Armenians will continue to commemorate this genocide to remind the world of this crime.
Naalbandian added: “The commemoration carries a set of messages that we want to convey to the world, the most important of which is the determination to restore the usurped rights and the beed to punish the perpetrators for the heinous massacres they committed against the Armenians, and for usurping the land and displacing the population.
Naalbandian pointed out that the whole world must recognize the genocide against the Armenians, stressing that the people of this community continue to commemorate the memory and struggle in every possible way to obtain international recognition that restores usurped rights and holds the criminals accountable.
Naalbandian noted that the Armenians who survived from the genocide thank Syria for all what it had offered to them and stress that they consider Syria as their homeland.
