Delegations participating in the Arab Youth Solidarity Forum visit the Great Umayyad Mosque and the old neighborhoods of Damascus
Damascus (ST): Within the activities of the Solidarity Arab Youth Forum hosted by the National Union of Syrian Students and the Revolutionary Youth Union Organization, the participating Arab youth delegations visited the Great Umayyad Mosque and the old neighborhoods of Damascus, and were briefed on its most prominent historical landmarks and ancient markets.
The Director General of the Umayyad Mosque, Issam Sukkar, gave a presentation to the visitors in the Hall of Honor on the history of the Great Umayyad Mosque, which is a living witness to the greatness of the Syrian civilization and the creativity of its engineers, builders and artists throughout the various historical eras and the stages of development of architecture and the art of decoration in Syria.
The General Supervisor of the Youth Forum, Abdullah Abdul Hamid, underlined the importance of visiting the Umayyad Mosque, with its great religious and historical value that goes back to ancient times and extends to this time, and its steadfastness in the face of enemies of all kinds and in the face of natural factors.
During their visit to Old Damascus, the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stressed the importance of the essential role of youth in building countries and achieving economic development, calling for enhancing joint action plans among Arab youth that contribute to achieving development, strengthening relations between Arab countries and ensuring their stability.
In turn, the head of the Revolutionary Youth Union Organization Sumar Daher pointed out that the visit of the participants in the forum is a message that expresses their love for Syria, and stresses the importance of youth, their strength and their ability to fulfill the requirements of society and economic development, and to end the unjust siege imposed on Syria.
