The Arab Lawyers Union calls for an end to the coercive measures imposed on Syria

Amman (ST):  The Arab Lawyers’ Union has called for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, stressing that they contradict the rules and provisions of international law.

The Union’s Assistant Secretary-General, Samih Khreis, said in a letter to the European Union’s ambassador to Jordan that the provisions of international legitimacy dictate that no unilateral measures be taken because they contradict the rules and provisions of public and humanitarian international law as they have not been issued by the Security Council, calling on the EU leaders to lift the measures  imposed on the Syrian people who are exposed to terrorism in its various forms, especially the economic one.

In turn, the Anti-Zionism and Racism Association affirmed in a similar message that coercive measures are inconsistent with the values of right and humanity and serve only terrorism and its sponsors and supporters, calling on the European Union to work to lift them.

Meanwhile, the central leadership of the Progressive Arab Baath Party demanded, in a message sent to the European Union mission in Jordan, to lift the unjust coercive measures targeting the Syrian people in terms of their livelihood and basic needs.

The Central Leadership expressed regret at the European Union joining the American administrations that impose these unfair  measures on Syria, which is exposed to a criminal war carried out by terrorist organizations and their supporters.
