The American attack against Iranian passenger plane is a terrorist act, says Iranian Foreign Ministry
Tehran, (ST) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the American attack on an Iranian airliner in Syrian airspace is a “terrorist act with distinction”, indicating that the United States engages in all kinds of maritime and air piracy.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said during his weekly press conference today that what Washington has done is a “dangerous and terrorist step that opposes all international norms and decisions”, stressing that Iran, through its Foreign Ministry, armed staff and civil aviation organization, will take all measures and will make America regret this terrorist step.
Mousavi reiterated Iran’s rejection of America’s attempts to impose pressures and sanctions on it and also its attempts to extend the imposition of the arms embargo and said that America is exerting pressure on the Security Council countries and Tehran for its part, expressed to the friendly countries and members of the Council to reject these pressures, stressing his country’s continued efforts and activities until they obtain their legitimate right.
It is noteworthy that an American F-15 jet fighter flew within roughly 1,000 meters (1,094 yards) of an Iranian passenger plane in the vicinity of a U.S. air base in Syria on Thursday, a U.S. defense official said, an incident Iranian media said forced the aircraft to descend abruptly, injuring several passengers before landing in Lebanon.
