The Abkhazian government approves a draft resolution to conclude an agreement with Syria

The Abkhazian government approved a draft decision submitted by the Ministry of Economy to conclude an agreement with Syria on the opening of two commercial representations in both countries, and to hold discussions with the Syrian side in this regard.

According to the draft agreement, a Syrian trade representative authority will be opened in the Abkhazian capital, and an Abkhazian trade representative authority will be opened in Damascus, with the aim of improving cooperation and coordination in the foreign economic field.

The draft agreement stipulates that the two trade representative authorities are called upon to contribute to the development of economic and trade relations between the two countries and to help conclude deals in the commercial, economic and scientific-technical fields, establish joint institutions and develop other forms of economic activity.

Syria recognized the independence of Abkhazia in May 2018 and established diplomatic relations with it.
