The 5th Syrian International Petroleum and Mineral Resources Exhibition “Syrpetro 2024” kicks off in Damascus
Damascus, (ST) – With the participation of more than 60 local, Arab and foreign companies specialized in the oil industries, exploration operations, studies and consultations, the activities of the 5th Syrian International Petroleum and Mineral Resources Exhibition “Syrpetro 2024” were launched yesterday evening at Damascus Fairgrounds.
The exhibition, organized by Mashhadani International Exhibitions and Conferences Group in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, aims to bring together exploration, production, petroleum services and mineral wealth companies, in addition to research and academic bodies, relevant institutions, specialists and experts in the oil industries sector at the local, regional and international levels so that they exchange experiences and ideas that serve the future of this sector.
Following the opening ceremony, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Dr. Firas Kaddour stressed during a press conference the importance of the exhibition in providing an ideal opportunity to exchange expertise, experiences and ideas between the various parties concerned with the oil sector in Syria and participants from outside it.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Oil pays great attention to developing this vital sector by improving efficiency and productivity in the fields of oil, gas and mineral wealth, and it accords great interest in vocational and technical education to ensure the development of national competencies and enable them to contribute effectively to the process of economic development.
Minister Qaddour pointed to the tireless efforts made by the government to enhance the investment environment in the energy sector and develop the infrastructure in this vital and strategic area of the national economy.
For his part, the director of the Mashhadani International Group organizing the exhibition, Khalaf Mashhadani, explained that the exhibition includes participation from Iran, the Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, China and Britain, and it comes within the framework of efforts to support the growth of industry and enhance investment that contributes to achieving economic development, providing job opportunities and promoting sustainable development in terms of the oil sector, as it is one of the vital sectors in the national economy.
Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Hussein Akbari noted the valuable participation in the exhibition and the Iranian side’s keenness to participate in it through four companies affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Oil and a high-level delegation from the Abadan Oil Refinery to contribute to providing expertise and concluding new and fruitful cooperation agreements with the Syrian side in the field of energy and oil, which is considered as one of the most important fields in the Syrian economy.
He pointed out that the cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of energy and oil are old and rooted, as in other economic fields, and will continue in the future.
From the Sultanate of Oman, Mohsen Al-Salmi from Muscat Gas said that the main goal of their participation in the exhibition is to find promising investment opportunities with companies specialized in the Syrian oil sector as well as with the participating companies from other countries, indicating that the company held meetings with some of the participating firms and that there will be other meetings, over the course of the exhibition days, with the relevant authorities working in this sector. He pointed out that “based on these meetings, we will study joint investment opportunities between the two parties’.
He pointed out that the exhibition is promising and it indicates that there are important investment opportunities in Syria.
Chemist Fawaz Ghalioun from Abdul Karim Group for Trade and Industry said: We participate as a golden sponsor of the exhibition in its fifth session and specialize in producing all types of mineral and industrial oils, including gasoline and diesel car engine oils, gearbox oils, and hydraulic and industrial oils, in addition to manufacturing all types of Mineral greases, such as multi-purpose greases, thermal greases, and high-pressure greases.
He indicated that the group’s factories mainly supply other factories working in various sectors such as cement, iron, and food with various oils, in addition to meeting the needs of the public and private sectors for various oils.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by a number of ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions in Syria, the director of the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Markets, and a number of experts, businessmen and specialists in this field.
The exhibition continues until the tenth of July and opens its doors daily from five o’clock in the afternoon until ten o’clock at night.
