The 5th International Forum of Journalists of Islamic Countries: Supporting Syria in the Media War

Participants at the 5th International Forum of Journalists of Islamic Countries stressed that the politicized actions of the West lead to the escalation of tension and crises around the world, calling for confronting media misinformation and fake news.

In the concluding statement of the forum, the participants underlined the necessity of coordination between journalists from Islamic countries and Russia in order to counter the falsification of news and misinformation.

In this context, a number of participants in the forum voiced their support for Syria in the face of the fierce media war directed against it, pointing out that Syria is fighting terrorism backed up by regional and international countries with the aim of prolonging the terrorist war on Syria under false pretenses.

The participants also clarified that the falsification and lying of the Western and Arab media about what is happening in Syria is well known to anyone, warning against the spread of media misinformation and falsification of news on a large scale in recent years.

At the same time, the participants called for uniting efforts to address the false media and adopt a comprehensive program of unveiling the extremist ideas.

The forum centered on  discussing the impact of media in public opinion and its reactions to the international events and enhancing cooperation among the countries in this area. Sessions specialized in the field of psychological war and the strategy of reactions to the fake news as well as the freedom of press were also conducted.

Represented by the Assistant Minister of Information Ahmed Dawa, Syria took part in the Forum which was held in September 26 in the Russian city of Petersburg with the participation of a number of countries, in addition to international experts in the field of media and Russian and foreign official figures.
