Since the separation of unity between Egypt and Syria in 1961 till mid sixties of the last century, it has been clear that the Arab revolution was put in the corner and in a blocked track. The Israeli aggression of June 1967 embodied this reality in the “Six-day war”.
The Six-day war shacked the Arab nation from the ocean to the Gulf. On the other hand, this incident motivated the Arab nation to wake up of the shock and to restore its self confidence and capability to confront the ordeals.
The 1967 aggression came as a result of the imperialist-Zionist-reactionary conspiracy to target the Arab revolution, hamper the Arab unity, topple the two Pan-Arabism regimes of Egypt and Syria and to expand Israel’s geographic space as well as to enhance its supremacy on the Arab people.
Israel was able to convince the western public opinion that it is waging a defensive war, thus the Israeli aggression faced a great support from the USA and the western countries.
The “Six-day War “ was considered a “statement of account” to what the aggressive forces have achieved during the years pre-aggression in all domains and also was a test to the nation’s military, economic and organization forces.
It is worthy to note to the issue of division as one of the “Six-day War” factors. So, it is not strange that resisting the Arab unity will be essential in Israel’s strategy.
The “Six-day War” opened the door in front of changing the Arab reality and launching a new political track. Then, Egypt and Syria began realizing pivotal economic, social and economic transformations which considered the backbone of the development process. So, a number of pan Arab realities represented with strategic lines were firmed as the following:
1-Confronting Israel seriously with guaranteed results requires an Arab country (or at least an Arab Orient) liberated from colonialism and backwardness and realizing unity and Arab solidarity as strategic goals.
2- Following up fortifying and technically modernizing the armies.
3-Developing the economy as a step not to keep the army just as a border guard.
4-Re-bringing up generations according to the culture of steadfastness, confrontation and resistance.
Thus, the secret word in the steadfastness and the confrontation of Israel will be the mobilization and reactivation of Arab potentials and making the Arab people partner in the battle.
It is clear that in 1967, the dreams of the Arab generation who was contemporary with the “Six-day War” were broken and until now we are still suffering from this war repercussions. But it was not the last war against the Arab nation; Israel waged its aggression on Lebanon in 1978 and 1982 and continued in carrying out attacks and violence against the Palestinian people and the Arab nation.
On the other hand, the Arab nation was able to restore its self confidence through the October Liberation War in 1973, and the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements began confronting the Zionist enemy.
The pan Arab and national forces refused yielding to the status quo and achieved key stages in the struggle process, the mostly important one was forcing Israel to withdraw from South Lebanon in May 2000 and from Gaza strip in 2005 after al-Aqsa intifada.
The combatant and defiant Arab forces are still waging the battle of confronting the foreign schemes and its agents in the Arab nation.
