The 42nd International Flower Fair in Damascus carries a message of Love

The activities of the 42nd International Flower Fair were launched at Tishreen Park in Damascus which was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The International Flower Fair  will last until the 9th of next July with the participation of 200 local companies and several companies from countries (Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan).

The participants  display diverse products including honey and bee products, Damascene roses, medicinal and aromatic plants, rural women’s products, traditional crafts.Also  the fair includes many activities such as children playgrounds  , open air cinema and children’s games.

Adel Al-Ardawi, the Secretary of the Flower Festival in Baghdad and the representative of the Baghdad Municipality, said that “ Iraq has  participated in the flower exhibition since 2005  -we display samples of plants that live in the environment of Iraq such as roses, palm plants in addition we display a collection of popular handicrafts that are made of palm fronds such as dishes and hand fans”.

“Our participation is a symbol of love, beauty and peace with the aim of strengthening cooperation to support and encourage tourism” he added.

Rasha Ajaj who is participating in the international flower fair told “Syria times” that she is displaying honey and bee products .She added that “we are as participants in the fair; we always display our new products and market them.

ح“In this fair we display honey, shampoo, soaps, creams and ointments which are made of honey and natural materials” Ajaj said.

Qutaiba Al-Nasaan , another participant who usually participates in the fair  displays pottery utensils  including water jugs, plates, jars  that are all handmade. “The aim of this participation is to encourage people to use pottery tools to return to nature because pottery is part of our heritage” he said.

The craftswoman Abeer Abu Hammoud shows oriental handicrafts and accessories, namely flower clusters.

From  these clusters she made  lamps, lines of beads and other handmade works. “My project started a few months ago, I participate in many fairs and the main reason of my participation in the International Flowers Fair is to market my products”, Abu Hammoud said.

For his part, Khaled Al-Qour , displays ornamental plants including fruit trees, tropical trees, spiny plants, ornamental birds and fish.  His most distinguished exhibits are the Syrian flag made of plants.

“The aim of our participation is to acquaint people with local plants from our country, especially the new generation, to benefit from the experiences of others in the field of plants and to encourage people to buy plants” Khaled said.

Engineer, Atef Muhammad Saleh, from the Sudan pavilion said that they have  always participated in the fair since 2008 to exchange expertise and plants.

“We aim from this participation to make people familiar with our plants”, Saleh added.
