The 16-day campaign against gender-based violence in Tartous

The Women’s Support and Empowerment Center inaugurated a 16-day
campaign to combat gender-based violence, with a legal discussion
session entitled “Awareness of Accountability”, presented by lawyer
Suha Mustafa from the Syria Trust for Development.
The activity concluded with graduation of a number of female
beneficiaries of the courses at the Center for Women’s Support and
Development. This activity comes with the support of the United Nations
Population Fund and the sponsorship of the Directorate of Social Affairs
and Labor in Tartous, noting that the campaign had been officially
launched from the Aleppo governorate to include various activities in
the rest of the governorates within a period of time.
During the specified 16 days, the symposium was attended by Dr. Hani
Khaddour, member of the Executive Office of Tartous Governorate,
Walada Jalib, Director of Social Affairs and Labor, Iyad Ahmed, Secretary
of the First City Division, Ghida Barakat, Coordinator of the Gender-
Based Violence Program in the Office of the United Nations Population
Fund, and Dr. Ahmed Abbas, head of the association's branch in Tartous.
