Terrorists Target Athletes,Sports Facilities

DAMASCUS, (ST) – An armed terrorist group blasted two mortar shells on Wednesday  hit the Tishreen Sports  Complex   in Damascus, claiming the live of  al-Wathba(1st division football club) player, Youssef Suleiman and caused material material damages.

One mortar hit the  stadium’s pitch, while the other one exploded near Tishreen Hotel.

A number of players the team officials  were wounded.

Muwafak Jum’a,the General Sports Federation Chairman, was quoted as saying” despite the crimes perpetrated by the terrorist groups, Syrian athletes  will not 

 

surrender to their vicious schemes  and  will continue their training ,”.

Meanwhile, the Syrian athletes condemned the terrorist act against Tishreen Sports Complex  underscoring  that this terrorist act will increase their determination to continue their training to make achievements to make the country proud.

The GSF released a statement in which it branded  the attack as a violation of the Olympic Code of Honor and a direct threat to the Olympic values and principles.
