Terrorists Must Not Be Included in Talks with Syrian Government

Tehran – Senior advisor to Majlis speaker Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Thursday that terrorists and Syrian opponents should be clearly delineated and terrorists should not be included in talks with government.

In a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan, Amir-Abdollahian added that a clear line should be drawn between the terrorists and opponents in Syria.

Praising Syria’s measures in the two fields of fighting against terrorism as well as focusing on diplomatic solutions to end the ongoing crisis in that country, Amir-Abdollahian said that continuation of Iran-Russia cooperation to help Syria is very important.

The Iranian officials also described continued Saudi-led attacks on Yemen and massacre of innocent people as ‘unforgivable sins,’ noting that Saudi military action on the impoverished country and keeping on crackdowns in Bahrain have made the region more insecure.

He further noted that strengthening Iran-Russia relations as the two influential regional states will benefit the two nations and contribute a lot to regional security and peace.

Russian envoy, for his part, referred to the increasing trend of the two countries’ cooperation at the regional and international levels, saying that Iran boasts of an outstanding status in the region and its role there is undeniable.

Russian and Iran’s stances regarding Syria and regional developments are close to each other and Tehran and Moscow play a major role in fighting against terrorism in Syria, he said.

Dzhagaryan also voiced his country’s support to diplomatic settlement of regional crises.

Highlighting existing capacities of Iran and Russia, Russian ambassador to Iran described the idea of promoting cooperation between the two countries’ economic-parliamentary commissions as significant for boosting all-out economic and commercial collaboration.

Moscow uphold diplomatic solution and dialogue to help resolve regional crises and continued consultation between Tehran and Moscow is essential for addressing regional crises, he said.
