PROVINCES,(ST)_At least 16 civilians have been martyred and 42 others wounded by mortar attacks on several urban areas in Damascus and Aleppo, the official news agency said on Saturday.
The agency clarified that three shells, fired by terrorists, hit the ‘al-Sallom’ Hospital and ‘Planet’ Hotel in al-Azezeyeh quarter in Aleppo city, killing 12 civilians and wounding 16 others.
University students wounded
Twenty-two more civilians, mostly university students, were wounded when a shell- fired by terrorists- struck the faculty of economy in the same province [Aleppo].
Shell hit bus in Damascus
Earlier, the agency said that a mortar shell, fired by terrorists, landed on a bus in al-Dwel’a quarter in Damascus, killing four civilians and wounding four others.
A police command source cited that a 16- year old girl was among those martyred by the mortar attack.
In April, the quarter was hit by several shells that killed a child and left many civilians, including women and children, wounded.
As for the loud sound heard in al-Somareyeh area in Damascus countryside, the agency made it clear that terrorists exploded a car bomb by remote control when the members of the engineering units were dismantling it at the entry of al-Moaddameyeh area..
The explosion killed several members of engineering units.
