Terrorist organizations prepare fake chemical attacks whenever the army achieves gains in war on terrorism: Foreign Ministry

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has affirmed that foreign-backed terrorist organizations are preparing fake chemical attack in the west of Aleppo and the southeast of Idleb to accuse the Syrian Arab army of using chemical weapons against civilians aiming at forcing the army to stop its military operations against terrorists in these areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Monday in two letters addressed to the UN Chief and President of the Security Council.

The terrorist organizations resort to false-flag attacks whenever the Syrian army achieves gains in the war on terrorism, the ministry said, pointing out that the Syrian government has repeatedly informed the United Nations and the Security Council about the terrorist groups’ use of internationally-banned chemical weapons against the Syrians and about the terrorists’ plans to stage chemical attacks in different parts of the country.

“It has become known to all that every time the Syrian army tightens the noose on the terrorist organizations, the so-called “White Helmets” terror group, directed by its masters in some western countries, prepare for fabricating chemical attacks with the help of experts from the countries supporting terrorism in order to accuse the Syrian government of using chemical weapons and to provoke military action led by the United States and its allies against Syria,” the ministry added.

It pointed out that the “White Helmets” continue with their propaganda to promote fake news about the alleged use of chemical weapons by the army, while the states sponsoring and supporting terrorists keep ignoring all the information submitted by the Syrian government to the UN and the organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) about the terrorists’ plans to use chemical weapons.

The Ministry made it clear that the Syrian Arab Republic reiterates that the current military operation of the Syrian Army and its allies in the south of Aleppo and southeast of Idleb is part its sovereign and constitutional right to defend its citizens and land pursuant to the principles of the International Law, the UN Charter and the Security Council resolutions relating to fighting terrorism. Syria also reaffirms that the goal of the current military operation in these areas aims at ending the suffering of the Syrian civilians in Idleb and Aleppo, the ministry said.

The ministry went on to say that Syria urges all countries of the world, particularly those claiming that they are keen on protecting international peace and security, to focus on countering the real danger, represented by international terrorism and the terrorists’ access to toxic chemicals, that threatens all without exceptions.

The ministry renews Syria’s strong condemnation of the use of chemical weapons by any party, under whatever circumstances and at any place and urges the UN and the Security Council to condemn the crimes being committed by the terrorists against the Syrians, including the open use of chemical weapons.
