Terrorist Groups in Idleb Preparing for Attacks on Residential Areas, Syrian Army Positions in Lattakia, Hama

IDLEB, (ST)- Terrorist groups positioned in Idleb province and its vicinity are preparing for launching attacks on residential areas and Syrian army positions in the countryside of Lattakia and Hama in implementation of the agenda of their operators, a military source said on Sunday.

According to the source, “the terrorist groups in Idleb and its vicinity are planning to get more weapons and bring a large number of  terrorists as to start an attack on Hama and Lattakia.”  

The terrorists have brought reinforcements from Morek area in Hama northern countryside in order to target the positions of the Syrian Arab army as well as the civilian population in neighboring areas, the source told SANA.

The source affirmed that the terrorists’ moves are being observed all the time, noting that what the terrorists have been doing for the past days “affirms that they are planning to carry out aggressive acts which will be the start of their inevitable end”.

According to Itar Tass, the Chief of Russia’s center for the reconciliation in Syria, Major-General Viktor Kupchishin told the media on Saturday that the groups of militants in the south of the de-escalation zone Idlib led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (former Jabhat al-Nusra) are creating a strike force and their attack on Hama is not ruled out.

“According to information available at this point, groups of militants under the command of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have been building up strength near Latamna and Kafer-Zaita in the south of the de-escalation zone Idlib over the past few days. It should not be ruled out that they are creating a strike force with the aim of mounting an offensive against Hama,” Kupchishin said.

He warned that the situation in the de-escalation zone Idlib had continued to worsen over the past day. Militants shelled Skelbia and Mgair in Hama Province and Mamuiya and Sanjeka, in Latakia province.
