Terrorist groups eye humanitarian aid convoys

DAMASCUS, (ST) –”the Syrian government supports the efforts of international humanitarian and relief organizations to help displaced Syrians in the country and abroad, “said State Minister for National Reconciliation affairs Ali Haidar.

Haidar’s remark was made during a meeting he held on Monday  with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Damascus, Magne Barth .

Following the meeting  Haidar told reporters that  “the armed terrorist groups are responsible for the appalling humanitarian conditions as they are  blocking roads and preventing supplies from reaching crisis-hit areas,” .

Haidar made it clear that the government spares no effort to facilitate the work of the organizations which provide aid to needy people.

Barthe, for his part, underscored that the ICRC is committed to providing humanitarian aid to affected people across Syria.

“terrorist groups are behind the humanitarian crisis in several areas in Syria as they prevent aid convoys from reaching crisis-hit areas, and they also  attacking convoys of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and even assassinating SARC workers ,”Haidar  asserted.
