DAVOS, SWITZERLAND-The 45th World Economic Forum was opened today in Swiss resort of Davos with the participation of 2500 world political and business figures to discuss several international issues under the terrorist threat endangering Europe. Others pressing issues affecting the world’s deteriorating economy are to be tackled.
AFP quoted Professor Klaus Schwab, the organizer of the event, as saying while opening the 4-day debates “the title of this meeting will be “Participation and Attention”.
On his part, Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at IHS, told Agence France-Presse that “both terrorism and geopolitics are likely to cast their shadows on this year’s meeting. Both are serious threats to political stability in Europe and in the Middle East and North Africa.
“This year’s delegates will likely look for reassurance on two things. First, those national governments will take the necessary actions to limit terrorism risks. Second that enough is being done to sustain and boost growth in the global economy,” he added.
He went on to say that the forum is also going to discuss the recent plunge in the price of oil.
A number of heads of states and governments are to take part in the 45th World Economic Forum.
