DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The silence over the crimes perpetrated by terrorists would encourage the terrorists as to pursue their terrorism, underlined H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.
During his talks here Tuesday with the visiting Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Syria, Staffan de Mistura , His Excellency underlined the dire need for the whole world as to be aware of the danger posed by terrorism against the entire world stability and security.
The world has to take a courageous and clear stance against those who finance, arm, and facilitate the movements of terrorists as well as against those who disregard commitment to and abidance by the UN Security Council resolutions pertaining to the fighting of terrorism in the region, underscored His Excellency President Al-Assad.
The discussions during the meeting touched upon the massacre perpetrated by the terrorists against civilians, children and the innocent in Aleppo yesterday, and asserted that the basic danger threatening Syria and the Syrians is but the criminal terrorism, financed, armed and exported by well known countries.
Stress was laid on the importance of restoring security and safety to Syria preserving its integrity and sovereignty.
Mr. de Mistura explained that the aim behind his visit is to brief President Al-Assad on the consultations he made in Geneva with Syrians who represent different spectra of the Syrian Society and to discuss the consequent steps as to complete his report about Syria, to be referred to the UN Security Council next July.
Agreement was made as to follow up consultations for the finding of a tangible political solution for the crisis in Syria restoring security and stability to all of Syria.
On Wednesday, 11 February 2015, H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad received the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Syria Staffan de Mistura and members of the accompanying delegation.
Discussions dealt with the new details in De Mistura’s plan to freeze fighting in the city of Aleppo in positive and constructive atmosphere.
President Al-Assad renewed Syria’ keenness on supporting any initiatives or ideas that help to solve the ongoing crisis and preserve civilians’ lives and state establishments.
President also stressed the need to put pressure on all countries to implement UN Security Council resolutions No. 2170 and 2178 to stop funding of terrorists and their flow to Syria.
For his part, De Mistura hopes that all parties cooperate in supporting his proposal to restore security to Aleppo city to be the starting point for the restoration of security and stability to all Syria.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier and Foreign and expatriates minister Walid al-Moallem, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister and Ahmed Arnous Advisor to the Minister.
On Monday, 10 November 2014, President Bashar Al-Assad discussed with the visiting UN Special Envoy, Staffan De Mistura, the proposal presented by De Mistura to the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Syria.
In their meeting, De Mistura briefed President Al-Assad on the main points and objectives of his initiative regarding the freezing of fighting in the city of Aleppo.
H.E. President Al-Assad underscored the importance of Aleppo and the keenness of the State on the safety of civilians in every Syrian spot, considering De Mistura’s initiative as worthy of study and try to work on as to reach its objectives for the restoration of security to Aleppo.
H.E. President Al-Assad and Mr. De Mistura agreed on the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions numbered 2170 and 2178 and on the rallying of international efforts for the combating of terrorism in Syria and in the region threatening the entire world.
De Mistura, at the end of the meeting, expressed his determination to pursue his mission with all sides as to alleviate difficulties reaching to stability and peace in Syria.
Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and the UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura held talks on the results of De Mistura’s visits to several capitals in addition to the UN Security Council’s recent discussions on the crisis in Syria.
The talks included De Mistura’s initiative at the Security Council about the situation in Aleppo and the need to implement the Security Council resolutions on Fighting terrorism, particularly Resolution No. 2170 which provides for combating Daesh, al-Nousra Front and other al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist groups, in addition to resolution No. 2178 which asserts that all countries should commit themselves to preventing foreign terrorists from entering Syria and Iraq.
On Thursday, 11 September 2014, H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad reiterated Syria’s continued work with the UN Envoy, Staffan De Mistura, providing every support and cooperation as to make success of his mission in the interest of the Syrians for a solution that would rid them from terrorism and eliminate all of its affiliated organizations with their different names.
Receiving De Mistura, President Al-Assad underlined that the success of Di Mistura in his mission is but the success for Syria and its People.
The fight against terrorism is but the priority, declared H.E. President Al-Assad, asserting that terrorism has become the biggest danger threatening all.
Whatever progress in fighting terrorism would contribute to backing national reconciliations which so far were a success in Syrian regions as a launching pad for an all-out Syrian-Syrian dialogue, President Al-Assad pointed out.
The meeting was held in a positive climate, especially regarding the implementation of UNSC resolution 2170, where viewpoints were in agreement on the importance of this anti-terrorism resolution and the necessity to correctly implement it.
The UN Envoy asserted that he would spare no effort as to work with all sides inside as well as outside Syria for the finding of a peaceful solution for the crisis in Syria through a political process in parallel with the combating of terrorism and pursuance of national reconciliations.
