Terrorism Couldn’t Defeat the Syrians: Patriarch Aphrem II

CAIRO, (ST)- Syria has suffered a lot from terrorism and foreign interference in its internal affairs as a result of the terrorist war waged on it, Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of Antioch and All East, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church has stressed.

In a statment to SANA correspondent in Cairo, The patriarch hailed the sacrifices offered by the Syrian Arab Army to restore security and peace to Syria, pointing out that takfiri terrorism and its supporters couldn’t defeat the Syrian people or weaken their determination to continue their life.

He said “we are parying today for peace to prevail in Syria and in the entire region so all can live in safety.”

Patriarch Aphrem II , who is on a several day visit to Egypt, held prayers at Virgin Mary Church in Cairo.

Earlier on Monday, the patriarch met a number of Syrian and Egyptian businessmen.  He was invited by head of the Syrian businessmen league in Egypt Khaldoun al-Mouaqe’, who, on his part, said the terrorist war waged on Syria has targeted all components of the steadfast Syrian people.

He hailed the Syrians’ awareness about the real goals behind war waged on them and commended the sacrifices of the Syrian army in defense of the homeland.
