Tehran: Foreign forces present in Syria illegally must withdraw immediately

New York (ST): Iran renewed its call for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of foreign forces present in Syria illegally.

Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi said in a speech before a meeting of the UN Security Council yesterday evening, “The crisis in Syria cannot be resolved without ending the occupation and uprooting terrorist threats, and it is not possible to endanger Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity under the pretext of fighting terrorism. The illegal occupation, including the American forces, must leave this country immediately and without any restrictions or conditions.”

He added, “Iran condemns once again the looting of the wealth and natural resources of the Syrian people, especially oil and agricultural crops in the areas occupied by foreign forces,” noting that this criminal act is a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Charter of the United Nations.

Ravanchi also condemned the continuous Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, calling on the UN Security Council to hold the Zionist entity accountable for it, as well as its blatant threats to use force against the countries of the region, which endangers security and peace in the region.
