Tehran calls for holding Security Council  session to condemn the Israeli aggression against Iran

Tehran (ST) – Iran today called for holding an emergency session of the Security Council to take a firm stance to condemn the Israeli aggression on its territory.

The Iranian News Agency quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as affirming in a letter sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres that this Zionist aggression is a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran and the foundations of international law, including Article 2, paragraph 4 of the UN Charter on the prohibition of resort to force, strongly condemning it.

Araghchi stressed his country’s right, according to the foundations stipulated in the UN Charter and the frameworks of international law, to respond to the Zionist aggression that targeted military centers in the country.

He noted that this aggression comes in continuation of the crimes of genocide in Gaza and the launching of war in Lebanon, which poses a serious threat to international peace and security, and leads to more chaos in the region.
