Technical workshops begin removing earth mounds and obstacles on M5 Road

On February 1, the technical workshops in the Governorate of Idlib started removing earthen berms and obstacles (along a distance of 45kms )that terrorists placed on the international road Aleppo – Hama ( M5 Road) in the area between Khan Sheikhoun and Maarat al-Numan in southern Idlib countryside after Syrian Arab Army units secured the road to the town of Ma`radbas.

The Director of Technical Services in IdlibEzzat Khalil said that the technical services directorate in the Governorate has started removing dirt berms and obstacles and filling back holes to rehabilitate the international highway between the cities of Khan Sheikhoun and Maarat al-Numan in preparation for reopening it to traffic.

 

The international road to Aleppo- Damascus(M5) , through the city of Hama and Homs, is the economic corridor for transporting goods among the Syrian governorates. The terrorist organizations closed it several years ago.

The reopening of M5 Road constitutes an added value in supporting the Syrian economy and reduces the distance between Damascus and Aleppo to more than 100 km from the road that convoys take today through theIthria -Khansar.
