The Governor of Damascus Maher Marwan, together with the Head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, “TIKA”, Serkan Kayalar, discussed prospects for cooperation to preserve monuments in Damascus, as a common humanitarian legacy that reflects the depth of the historical and cultural ties between Syria and Turkey.
The two sides stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the areas of development, restoration and maintenance of archaeological sites, while ensuring the preservation of cultural and civilizational identity.
Marwan stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to serve common interests, focusing on cultural aspects that are a bridge for communication between peoples.
Members of the Turkish delegation expressed their readiness to support and contribute seriously to any projects aimed at protecting this unique cultural heritage in Damascus.
