Takht-Ravanchi: US pressure on Iran represents state-run terrorism

New York (ST): Iran’s permanent representative to the UN Majid Takht-Ravanchi affirmed that the US pressure on Iran is an embodiment of state-run terrorism renewing his country’s rejection and denunciation of terrorism in all its forms, especially the terrorism imposed through the unilateral coercive measures.

In a speech he made during the meeting of the sixth committee of the UN General Assembly which centred on the issue of terrorism, Takht-Ravanchi said that combatting terrorism should be in line with the UN charter and the international humanitarian laws.

He added that there should also be commitment to the principle of independence and equation of the sovereignty of states and the non-intervention in their internal affairs so that combatting terrorism can be carried out with wide and effective international participation.

Regarding coronavirus pandemic, Takht-Ravanchi said that the US imposition of laws and restrictions on Iran have led to aggravating the health situation in the country, noting that the unilateral coercive measures negatively affected the Iranian economy but they will never affect the Iranian people’s determination to press ahead in the battle against terrorism
