Tabbaa discusses with Icomos National Committee team mechanism to enhance the protection of cultural heritage
The Minister of Education, Chairman of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Darem Tabaa, discussed with the team of the National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) for Monuments ways to enhance cooperation in the field of cultural heritage protection and preservation in order to develop an action plan that contributes to strengthening the concepts of protecting tangible and intangible heritage and enhancing its preservation skills.
Minister Tabaa stressed the importance of cooperation with experts and different institutions, in a way that secures support for the educational and cultural process and achieves sustainable development in the educational curricula.
The Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the ICOMOS Architectural Consultant, Muhammad Khairuddin Al-Rifai, noted the importance of the meeting to discuss areas of work through a set of educational proposals to deepen interest in heritage in all its architectural, urban and intangible degrees, and to conduct archaeological research and field tours for students to learn about archaeological sites and heritage monuments.
Al-Rifai explained that “ICOMOS” seeks to dedicate all specialized energies to intensify the Arab presence in the educational, cultural and scientific fields at the regional and global levels.
